As the world’s most invasive mosquito species, Aedes albopictus, also known as the (Asian) tiger mosquito, is native to the tropical and subtropical areas of Southeast Asia and has spread to Europe, the Americas, the Caribbean, Africa, and the Middle East. This species is a vector of many arboviruses, including the yellow fever virus, dengue fever, and Chikungunya fever. It is a primary vector in some regions like a majority of mainland China but treated as the secondary vector in other places where Aedes aegypt presents.

With light-brown bodies, Culex quinquefasciatus, commonly known as the southern house mosquito, can transmit diseases including West Nile virus, St. Louis encephalitis virus, Wuchereria bancrofti, and avian malaria. This mosquito species is distributed throughout subtropical and tropical areas worldwide. Historically, the first success in developing Wolbachia for mosquito control is eradication of this mosquito species in the field near Burma (Laven, 1967. Nature).

Originated in Africa, Aedes aegypti, the yellow fever mosquito, is a vector of dengue fever, chikungunya, Zika fever, and yellow fever viruses. The mosquito can be recognized by black and white markings on its legs and a marking in the form of a lyre on the upper surface of its thorax. It distributes in tropical, subtropical and temperate regions throughout the world and serves as the primary disease vector in many countries.

Rice planthopper can cause field losses by iercing and sucking the phloem of rice in the rice region. Brown Planthopper, White Back Planthopper and Small Brown Planthopper are the most common species. They can be found in many provinces of China, especially in middle and lower Yangtze River and North China.

Rice planthopper, as a kind of important pest insect, has many grass hosts such as rice, wheat, barley, sorghum, sugar cane, amur foxtail, barnyard grass. Rice planthopper can spread the plant virus such as rice black strip dwarf virus, wheat rosette stunt virus, maize rough dwarf virus, etc.

Citrus psylla is the dominant pest in the period of new shoot extraction of citrus. Adults prefer to lay eggs on the tender shoots of host, and the nymphs keep piercing and sucking it from hatch to eclosion. Citrus psylla is mainly distributed in Guangdong, Guangxi, Fujian, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Hunan, Hainan, Taiwan, Yunnan, Guizhou and Sichuan, etc.

Citrus psylla mainly damages rutaceae plant like citrus, wampee, kamuning, etc. The white honeydew secreted by the insects will result in citrus fuliginous. The adult individuals feeding on plants suffered from citrus huanglongbing can distribute the pathogen in the field, which is one of the most devastating diseases in citrus production all over the world.

Oriental fruit fly, also called small citrus fruit fly, is a worldwide quarantine pest. Oriental fruit fly does a lot of damage to guava, mango, carambola, rose apple, and pomelo. Oriental fruit fly has distributed in Guangdong, Guangxi, Hunan, Guizhou, Fujian, Hainan, Yunnan, Sichuan, Taiwan and other provinces in China.

Once suffered from the oriental fruit fly, fruits will drop out or lost nutritional and economical worth. In the regions of outbreaks, the fly can cause huge (sometimes up to 80%) yield loss.
